Due to unforeseen work commitments, I’ve made the uneasy decision to put Ellie Up for sale. This advert is 100% honest as she requires the right person for her who will love and care for her just as I do.
Ellie is a 14.1/14.2hh Irish cob and is roughly 10 years old. Ellie is NOT a novice ride, is VERY forward going but does not have a single bad bone in her body, she tries her hardest to please her rider and has no known vices when ridden. She does take confidence from her rider and needs someone with time and patience to bring out the best in her.
Hacking: Ellie loves a good long hack out, has seen farm machinery, big lorry’s, plenty of cars, bikes, dogs etc. You name it she’s probably seen it. Ellie is not necessarily bombproof as she can occasionally take a second look at things but will never bolt/spin. Nothing dangerous might just take a step to the side as she prefers to face whatever it is that scared her. Will hack out alone or in company however does prefer to be at the front of a group. No issues out hacking however she will jog occasionally and definitely all the way home. Can get fizzy in open spaces but once firmly told no she will calm down.
Jumping: Ellie enjoys to jump, has jumped small courses at home of up to 1m and single fences of roughly 1.20m. Ellie has previously competed in unaffiliated sj up to 95cm but could easily go higher. She is VERY quick against the clock and will almost never touch a pole. Out in xc she has also schooled over be100 fences with ease completely unfazed and didn’t batter an eyelid, happily goes through water etc.
Schooling: With consistent and regular work Ellie schools nicely however has been out of regular work for 3 months therefore this will need working on.
Ellie has a very sweet nature and will stand to be groomed all day however can be nervous on the ground so needs someone patient. Ellie’s only potential vice is that she won’t be caught if in a large herd, is happy to be turned out Alone and catches perfectly everytime, has been turned out in fieldsafe headcollars in a herd and will allow you close enough to grab her but I think would suit a new home that is quiet or someone has time to work on this. Absolute dream to load and travel, will go first or last on a wagon or box. Occasionally needs twitched for the farrier however I’m finding that she rarely needs it now.
For my peace of mind I am in no rush to sell her as finding the right person for her is vital.
