Where do I even begin with our special little chap. He is the kindest pony on the ground. Kids can run around and literally climb on him and he has the patience of a saint. Loves fuss and attention and stands for ages to be groomed. My daughter does all his daily care and work by herself. Perfect child’s pony in every way, he’s been there and done it and got the T-shirt! He’s looking for the next lovely family to teach.
He is ridden in a snaffle. Please note The jumping photos of him in a grackle is because my daughter left her bridle at home and we had to borrow one! Hunting we put a gag on not because he needs a strong bit, only because there’s extra breaks if she ever needed them. He is not strong at all and is more of a kick along! He is ridden off the lead rein by a tiny tot and is amazing!
He is a superstar to ride, he is a perfect first ridden or second pony. Fantastic on the leaderin just a little slow if anything. I’ve led him out for miles with my son, he’ll go anywhere. We bought him when my daughter had lost all her confidence and he has taken her from terrified to canter, to out hunting and showjumping confidently.
HACKING - He hacks alone or in company, has done a few fun rides this year. Fantastic in heaviest of traffic, lives on a beef farm so is used to tractors and cows!
HUNTING - Has hunted 2 seasons with us and was foot perfect every single time. He stands like a rock at the meet and jumps absolutely everything that is asked of him. Banks, flies, he’s a hunting legend! My daughter has been out multiple times without me there and I trust the pony 110%. Well known in the Four Burrow Hunt.
PONY CLUB - did a 4 day pony club camp this year where he was amazing. He got the highest dressage score! For a little cob he is surprisingly naturally fantastic at dressage. Does all pony club activities without any fuss and does very well with whatever task he has!
SHOWJUMPING - pike will happily compete up to 70cm but is never going to be a top show jumper. He gained a double clear in the 60 pony club championship at Bicton this summer. Many double clears at various places.
XC - pike much prefers this to showjumping. There’s nothing he won’t do! Water, steps, ditches literally anything and everything. Happy to trot around and pop a little log but will also step it up a gear and have a gallop and do the bigger jumps.
SHOWING - he cleans up showing. Always in the ribbons and does extremely well. We were planning on county level this year but thanks to Covid that never happened. Working hunter, coloured, best combination etc always a favourite with the judges. My daughters room is full of trophies and rosettes.
I cannot fault this little chap at all. You don’t find many like him! He is every mother’s dream as you know he will 110% look after his rider. My 6 year old son occasionally likes a ride but he refuses to be led and pike just potters round the school with him with the patience of a saint.
He is fantastic in all traffic, lives in or out happily. great to shoe, we did keep him barefoot for a year and is currently just got fronts on as the hacking round us is very rough. Good to clip and groom. I hog for personal preference not for sweet itch at all. No vices, never sick or sorry and never been lame. Super cheap to keep and is zero maintenance. You can leave him for 2 weeks and pluck him out the field and is fine.
This is a heartbreaking sale and will only go to a top home. Unfortunately my daughter is progressing with her showjumping and we don’t want to see him sat in a field as he’s too special to waste. We want him to go on and do for someone else what he’s done for us!
