Minnie was sold to us three years ago as a lead rein / first ridden for my then three year old daughter. In many ways she has done this job and has always been very tolerant of my daughter finding her balance, learning rising trot and questionable steering skills! However she can be spooky. She’s done a year of pony club, including camp where she has always been immaculately behaved (although not a fan of the cup race if doing games!) aside from that we’ve taken her to an odd local show and hacked mostly. However due to her spooky nature (and my daughter’s balance!) she hasn’t really been able to take my daughter to a point where she’s really established off the lead rein, for this reason she’s had the summer off as we have had a loan pony who is much more unflappable! We recently bought her in, tacked her up and put my daughter straight on and she was absolutely fine! It won’t take much to get her going again but with the best will in the world we sadly just don’t have the time at the moment.
Whilst she’s been with us she’s lived on a busy working dairy farm so she’s well used to cows and farm machinery (although she does still appreciate personal space) she’s been totally desensitised to bikes, buggy’s, dogs and kids running around her.
In her previous home she was ridden off the lead rein, hacking and up the gallops with a small 10yo.
Due to her spooky nature I feel she’d be better suited as a second pony or would possibly make a nice little project for a small older child to put a few more miles on the clock and give her a busier life! Experienced and sensitive home essential. I’m happy to discuss her quirks in more detail over the phone and have plenty of videos (including in her previous home) available on request. Up to date with vacs and teeth. Does get very mild sweet itch which is easily controlled with a rug and mask.
