The internationally protected idolo tether-tie was invented by a skilled horseman, Roy French by using a lunge rope and the vertical bars in his stable. He discovered that by threading a lead rope in and out of the bars, an untamed or nervous horse could soon learn to tie calmly, in a relaxed and safe manner. This was achieved by the horse's freedom of movement and the rope being able to slide through the bars and yet still connected to the horse. The idea was then developed by welding together three small rings and obtaining various levels of frictional pressure options that we now have today
