Flat work – King has 3 evenly balanced paces (Walk, trot and canter) He works in a natural soft outline. He is not forward going but is not a kick along, he is well balanced and has a nice even tempo. He can be stubborn, so needs a confident rider to push him forward, so no novices please
Hunted last season in Ireland and proved to be reliable, safe and capable.
XC – King is great cross country, bold, brave and jumped everything we put him at, roll tops, ditches, water, tiger traps, logs, tyres etc… he is happy to wait for another horse to have a go, or go off on his own, snaffle mouth at all times and great breaks
Open spaces – King loves a good canter around the field, he is balanced ad easy to ride, can be pulled up at any time. He is not strong and does not get to over excited. Again always in a snaffle.
Hacking - King is excellent to hack, will go first or last or happily hacks alone, he can hack with spooky horses and still ignore their behaviour and carry on. He has seen all farm machinery from tractors to milk tankers to riding up our busy b road passing busses, cars, lorries and trailers and just plods on.
Jumping – King is a very safe jumper who will help his rider out and correct his stride for you. He is not a horse to jump big tracks as he will knock a pole, as he far excels XC/hunting.
King has been on beach rides and happily rides into the sea for a good splash and a canter along the beach.
Loading – King loads into a lorry or a trailer and travels well
In the stable – King is a gentleman, happy to be brushed all day by children, picks up all four feet, easy to catch, he is turned out in 15 acre field with mares and geldings and comes in with no issues. He is great for the farrier (shod all round)
