Sad sale of Tia Maria, 14.2 very pretty Irish X skewbald mare.
After 4 fun packed years I have decided to sell my lovely little pony Tia Maria who is 14 years old. She came over from Ireland as a 5 year old and has only ever had 2 owners. I am a small mature adult and have been her primary rider but she is also ridden by my daughter. I have done so much with Tia over the last four years, hours of hacking, distance riding, sponsored and fun rides, show jumping and cross country. Tia is a forward going, sharp, whizzy little pocket rocket and extremely agile. She has excellent conformation, extremely pretty and is never lame, sick or sorry – she doesn’t buck, rear, bolt or kick. She is kept on a busy working farm so is well used to heavy machinery/tractors, dogs etc., and is great on roads and in heavy traffic. She has excellent ground manners (something I am very hot about), she is very polite, never pulls or barges and very light to handle. Tia will ride out quite forward by herself but is more ‘looky’ and can be a bit spooky but I think this is mainly because I normally hack out with my husband or friends so this is something with more practice she will easily overcome. We take our horses on holiday with us every year. We take them for about 4 weeks beach riding in Norfolk every summer, she has also been to Devon (a 7 hour journey) and on a holiday to the New Forest with no problems at all. She travels perfectly and loads herself. She has galloped along a huge open beach in a group of 8 other horses with no problem, but she is always up the front as she is fast. She is always ridden in a snaffle. I have done 2 adult jump camps on her, 2 natural horsemanship camps, numerous show jumping and XC Clinics, many sponsored/fun rides, Le Trek clinics and even an adult gymkhana. I have shown her in-hand three times just for fun and she came first in two of the classes and came 2nd in the third and qualified for the Chiltern and Thames Championships but this is something I haven’t pursued as it’s not something I am interested in. I have only done about 5 show jumping competitions with her and have always been placed in the top 3, but once she is in the jumping ring she is a bit too forward going for me, but with a younger or more confident jockey who doesn’t mind her speed she would excel. She loves jumping - is very whizzy and agile and is extremely hard to beat in a jump-off so for this reason she would be perfect for a young teenager or small adult who wants to win - she never has poles down, is very light off her feet and can jump a meter virtually from trot. I have done lots of non-competitive jumping on her for fun at home in our school and round our farm over the x country jumps. Tia excels at Endurance Riding - I have been a member of the Chiltern Distance Riders for the last 3 years, and Tia has achieved the top Gold Medal Award for all three years. She has come in the top 6 out of nearly 100 members each year and won the Pony Trophy last season. She is an excellent endurance pony, keeps going, never tires even on the long rides, keeps up very well with much bigger horses and can do a lovely extended trot – she always finishes with excellent vetting results. She has also done quite a few GB Endurance rides and won ‘Best Pony in Class’ at the last one I did on her - again with excellent vetting results. Tia has a very small, hardly noticeable splint which is now 3 years old and cold and doesn’t cause any trouble at all and has been passed ‘of no clinical significance’ from the vet. Apart from this, Tia has not seen a vet in the last 4 years apart from her injections which are all up to date and any perspective buyers are welcome to contact our vets to verify this. Worming is also up to date. Tia is forward going and fast therefore would not be suitable for a novice or nervous rider but is not dangerous in any way. Price £2800 to include some tack and rugs - a good home is more important than price. Tel 07743 974349.
