Spring JumpCross Season underway at Brechin Castle Equestrian

The first JumpCross competition of the season got off to a great start at Brechin Castle Equestrian, Maulesden, with an excellent entry of riders coming from as far as Mid Lothian.

The technical course of 19 jumps included the Maulesden water feature which was used as a run through for this competition to get horses and ponies used to the complex in readiness for the season.

Organiser Val Blewitt said: “The course is looking beautiful with all the spring flowers in full bloom and we were so lucky with the weather again.

“JumpCross continues to prove extremely popular at Brechin Castle Equestrian and it was great to see so many riders support the event.

“The water took many riders by surprise as it’s not usually included in JumpCross  but everyone was enthusiastic about the course and all seemed to enjoy themselves.

“It is so important to walk the course beforehand as it will change slightly each time and in this competition the same jumps seemed to catch many riders out.

“Many thanks to all the competitors, the jump judges, the helpers and the first aiders!”
