SPILLERS® invite Trailblazers Championship riders to share their stories and win feed

SPILLERS® invite Trailblazers Championship riders to share their stories and win feed

SPILLERS®, sponsors of the Trailblazers Championships, are inviting Trailblazers competitors who have qualified for this year’s Championships, to share their stories and give inspiration to amateur riders everywhere. All submissions will be entered into a prize draw to win three months of SPILLERS® horse feed*.

Riders are invited to write to SPILLERS® with details of their horse or pony and how they came to qualify for the SPILLERS® Trailblazers Dressage, Showjumping or Showing Championships. The best stories could bring fame and glory to horse and rider as they will be published on the Trailblazers website and the SPILLERS® website in the build-up to the championships at the end of July and will also be featured in the autumn issue of the popular Trailblazers magazine.

Ten-year-old Scarlet Simmons is one of the youngest qualifiers this year and has secured a place in the championships in no less than four classes. Not to be outdone, her mother Hazel has also qualified. She said: ”Fed up with being in the collecting ring on grooming duty I, at 50, dusted off my 20-year-old gelding and qualified for the 85cm and 95cm championship. The entire family are coming to support us at Stoneleigh, including the dog, and we are all looking forward to a busy and fun weekend.”

Sandie Fagan and her daughter’s 18-year-old mare Argy both bravely battled illness and went on to celebrate their recovery in style by qualifying for the senior novice dressage championships.  Sandie explains: “Last year Argy suffered a severe bout of laminitis and I was recovering from surgery for a brain tumour. At the age of 63 I thought my riding days were over but my daughter had other ideas. She asked me to help her exercise Argy during the mare’s slow rehabilitation. As we both got fitter I was persuaded to enter a charity dressage competition and the bug started to bite! Several competitions later and we had qualified for the SPILLERS® Trailblazers Championships. I’m absolutely thrilled.”

SPILLERS® has sponsored the Trailblazers Championships for the past three years. Sarah Kitson, SPILLERS® senior brand manager said: “Trailblazers has grown from strength to strength since our sponsorship started. It’s so rewarding to have the privilege of supporting the championships, which give amateur and recreational riders the chance to realise their dreams of competing in a championship show, in their favourite discipline, in a professional and prestigious environment.”

Trailblazers was established nine years ago to offer well-structured, cost-effective competitions for all ages and abilities. Trailblazers provides an exciting opportunity for leisure riders to reach achievable goals in dressage, show jumping and now showing competitions, with the potential kudos of qualifying for the prestigious annual SPILLERS®  Trailblazers Championships.

The SPILLERS® Trailblazers Championships 2009 will be held at Stoneleigh Park Warwickshire, running from 25 July to 2 August.
