Shining Stars Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro

Shining Stars Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro

WITHOUT doubt two shining stars have entered the world’s dressage arena in the form of Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro who recently took to the centre stage at the highest level.

Charlotte’s success riding Carl Hester and Roly Luard’s amazing gelding Valegro has been all the more spell binding as she has only been riding at Grand Prix level for just 18 months.

Valegro always looks the perfect picture with his gleaming coat and quarter marks standing out thanks to the Supreme Products Professional Collection.

Said Charlotte: “Originally coming from a showing background, turnout is really important to me and I always want my horses to be presented immaculately with their coat shining, socks whiter than white and that real look at me quality.

“Turnout in dressage has improved enormously in recent years and making sure Valegro is presented to perfection is really important to me.

“He always looks stunning, with his coat gleaming and we achieve such a fantastic finish by using Supreme Products de luxe Coat Gloss followed by Spray & Shine and for his quarters, Quarter Marking Spray which really makes them stand out.

“We then finish off with Supreme Products Sparkle and away we go.  You can’t beat entering the arena knowing your horse looks fantastic.”

Here Charlotte provides advice in last minute touch ups.

The key to a smooth running competition day is good organisation.  When possible we try to arrive in plenty of time to allow the horses to take in the atmosphere and keep stress to a minimum by not rushing around.

After working the horse in and after I have got myself ready, we apply last minute touch ups.

For extra glitz and glamour we add a little Supreme Products Sparkle to the tail.  This is the ultimate turn out product and looks fantastic when I compete indoors or in bright sunlight.

To accentuate and highlight the head area we concentrate on two main areas - the eyes and muzzle.

We always apply a little Black Matt Make Up around the eyes, we dab it on with our fingers or a little sponge.

Keen not to go over the top, we always blend it in well and finish with a little Glistening Oil for understated shine.

Highlighting the eye area really accentuates the head and when trotting down the centre line I think helps catches the judge’s attention.

Finally we rub Supreme Products Glistening Oil into the muzzle, this works particularly well on those with dark muzzles and creates a superb shine.

Not a beauty pageant, dressage is all about the harmony and understanding between horse and rider.  But why not emphasise your horse’s best points?
