RNLI rescues horse after cliff fallTuesday 17 January 2012
A horse fell over a cliff in Wales and was successfully rescued by the RNLI. Cardigan’s lifeboats were called out on Sunday morning after the horse was found stuck in a cove after falling in the sea at Ceibwr, Moylegrove. The Atlantic lifeboat was the first on the scene and spotted the horse stuck on a tiny shale beach inside the cove. The smaller lifeboat arrived minutes later and managed to manoeuvre itself into the cove and attempt the rescue. The lifeboat crew obtained a collar from the horse’s owner they managed to catch the horse and attach it to a longer line which was hooked onto the smaller boat. The crew then coaxed the horse into the water and swam it out of the cove and onto Ceibwr beach. A spokesman said: “Once swimming, the crew made sure that her head remained above water at all times and gently escorted the cold tired animal to the beach. “She was then loaded into the horsebox and driven back to the owner’s farm.” Picture courtest of the RNLI.
