Caroline Pennington Soldiers On
Caroline Pennington from Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire has qualified to compete at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS), the UK’s biggest indoor equestrian event, at the NEC, Birmingham from 6th - 10th  October 2010.
Tens of thousands of competitors set out each year to become one of the coveted finalists at HOYS. This world famous horse show is the pinnacle of the domestic equestrian calendar.
Caroline has qualified Townend Sonny for the Carrs BMW M&M Pony of the Year – Fell/Highland/Dale. Caroline thought that her dream of riding at HOYS was over when she fell from a horse and broke her back but Caroline was not giving up that easily! While recovering from the accident, Caroline saw Sonny for sale on a website and instantly knew this was the pony for her. Despite not knowing whether she would ever make a full recovery – Caroline bought the little black Fell gelding.
It was four months before Caroline was able to ride Sonny – she mounted with great trepidation but Sonny was perfectly behaved – as if he knew what Sarah had gone through. Caroline and Sonny went from strength to strength and at the Royal Festival of the Horse came out victorious – qualifying for the Horse of the Year Show and fulfilling the dream Caroline thought would never be fulfilled.
My beautiful pony, who I viewed when I had broken my back has done so much for me, he got me back riding and won me my ticket for the Horse of the Year Show. I feel on top of the world!”
Following the most successful show ever, Horse of the Year Show 2010 promises to be another exceptional event not to be missed! This year’s show will host the finals of the most highly regarded showing and show jumping championships, alongside an exciting line-up of equestrian entertainment.
