Queen photographed with grandchildren to mark Royal Windsor Horse Show

Queen photographed with grandchildren to mark Royal Windsor Horse Show

A photograph of the Queen riding in Windsor Great Park with her two grandchildren has been released to mark the start of the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Her grandchildren, the daughter and son of the Earl and Countess of Wessex, are the Queen’s youngest heirs.

The photograph was taken on Easter Monday, and shows her on her black pony, wearing her traditional headscarf.

Although her grandchildren are pictured wearing helmets, the Queen’s decision to forego her own protective headgear has prompted the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (Rospa) to urge other riders to wear them to reduce the severity of head injuries.

The Royal Windsor Horse Show runs until Sunday and takes place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle.

To see the picture, head to the
BBC website.
