OLYMPIC COACH JABEENA MASLIN TO ATTEND KINGSTON MAURWARD EVENT

SHOWJUMPING legend Jabeena Maslin will attend the Bert Rutten dressage masterclasses on Friday 9 July at Kingston Maurward College, Dorset.

The British Olympic coach from Beaminster, Dorset, has attended four Olympics: Seoul, Barcelona, Atlanta and Beijing. Today, Jabeena is the British coach for the riding phase of the Modern Pentathlon, preparing the team for London 2012.

Jabeena (64) has competed internationally for 50 years, before retiring from competition to concentrate on coaching. She was a memorable sight as the competitor who famously competed in her bowler hat!

Jabeena said: “I am really looking forward to the event. Kingston Maurward has recently been listed as an official training venue for the 2012 Games. This is a great chance to see some of the best international professional training and also for the college to show off its high level of services to attract a foreign team.”

Two-time Olympian Bert Rutten will be holding two days of dressage masterclasses from 9-10 July. A range of riders, working from advanced through to grand prix level have already snapped up the 45-minute sessions, and just a few places remain.

Both days are also open to spectators. Half-day tickets are split into morning and afternoon sessions. Tickets are £5 in advance and £7 on the door. Telephone 01305 215 135 for bookings. To reserve a masterclass, call 01308 420 785. The event is sponsored by the equestrian surfaces specialists Andrews Bowen Ltd and Fennington Fibres Ltd, producers of 100% pure miscanthus Horse Bedding.
