Missing horse Rosie is found safe and wellTuesday 24 January 2012
Rosie the missing horse has been found safe and well according to Lincolnshire police. The return of Rosie follows an emotional appeal to the public last week from her owner after she went missing from her home near Navenby on 21 January 2012. Owner, Sarah Nettesheim, was eager to pass on her thanks to the public and media who helped in the safe return of Rosie. She said: “I am so grateful to everybody who has helped us. We have had such a fantastic response from so many people who have even been out looking for Rosie and putting up posters.” When Rosie originally disappeared, Sarah, along with the police, were concerned for her welfare. She said at the time: “Rosie is a 19-year-old piebald mare. I have only owned her since August, but she is an absolute star. She's really helped me get my confidence back following a combination of a bad riding accident and a long spell of ill health and I love and miss her more than I can say. I just want her back as soon as possible. “She is an old horse and a bit stiff and arthritic and it's horrible not knowing where she is - my biggest fear is that she's been left cold and hungry somewhere. I just want her home safely.” Police continue to investigate the incident to establish the circumstances of Rosie’s disappearance. Anyone with information should contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. Lincolnshire Police are reminding residents about the Horsewatch scheme and would encourage horse owners to join. The scheme aims to tap into the eyes and ears of the equestrian community to gather and share information to protect all horses, ponies and property.
