Local equine expert to host careers evening
A careers evening that will showcase the range of opportunities in the equine industry is being held by Julia Gourley, in conjunction with the British Horse Society Grampian, on 7th December at the Torryburn Hotel in Kintore.
For the past nine years 38-year-old Julia Gourley BHSI has run her own livery and training yard, taught riding and trained would-be coaches in the equine industry.
“At careers evenings like this, we aim to make our school leavers, parents and guidance teachers aware of the really wide variety of careers within the equine industry. We’ll be talking about the different routes to take in training towards these jobs and the qualifications that are available.”
For Julia training is vital to the business and her encouragement of other people to get proper training extends beyond her own business as she is now also a Skills Ambassador for Lantra Sector Skills Council.
Mary Mitchell from Lantra said: “Julia is a great example of what Lantra’s Skills Ambassadors are there to do. She has a passion for the equine industry and by taking part in events like this, can really help to raise awareness of what opportunities there are in the industry.”
The careers event on Monday starts at 7:30pm and is free. To book a place contact Julia Gourley nethertulloch@hotmail.co.uk.
