Lomas to be guest speaker at Blenheim Horse Trials

Claire Lomas, the paralysed event rider who completed the London Marathon in her bionic suit, will be guest speaker at a special lunch event at the Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials on Thursday 6th September 2012.
Every day three people in the UK are told they will never walk again and their lives will change forever but when Claire fell on her horse at Osberton in 2007 and was told she had broken her back and was unlikely to gain the use of her legs; her response was ‘they don’t know who they are dealing with’ .
Claire’s determination is legendary and she has now set her sights on a new challenge of cycling from London to Paris on a specially constructed bicycle. Blenheim Palace Horse Trials will be helping Claire launch her new initiative and of course raise some funds for the spinal research charity of which she is an ambassador. “ Claire’s enthusiasm for Eventing and living life to the full is contagious , her motivation infectious and her determination a stimulus to us all to ‘go for it’.
The general public, but in particular many people in the sport of Eventing who understand the risks involved in riding horses, have been inspired by Claire. Our lunch will be an opportunity to show your support and hear her inspirational approach to attaining targets and discover how she attacks her challenges,” explains Event Director, Mandy Hervieu.
“ I am very grateful to Blenheim for inviting me as a guest and help raise money towards my bike challenge in aid of Spinal Research. Blenheim is one of the most beautiful events, and a fantastic day out for anyone. I am very much looking forward to it,” added Claire.
This year the Horse Trials is introducing an option to pre-book a two course sit-down lunch on any of the four days of the event in their smart new ‘Members restaurant’, at £30 per person (excluding event admission tickets).
For ‘Lunch with Lomas’ on Thursday 6 September, the two course lunch package will be further upgraded to the corporate hospitality suite for the same price, with a £5 donation from each ticket going to Spinal Research.
The Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials runs from 6-9 September 2012. For more details or to book tickets for ‘Lunch with Lomas’ go to www.blenheim-horse.co.uk/lunch-lomas. Places are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis and bookings close 30 August 2012. /ends 6/7/12
