Laura Robinson Takes On International TurfMonday 18 April 2011
Show jumper and young rider Laura Robinson has been busy competing abroad over the last month in preparation for the Pony and Junior European Trials back in the UK.
Laura put up some good performances and added vital experience for her horses and ponies in the run up to the selection trials.
Salvadore, Wizard and Cree Cruiser made the round trip with Laura and her family to Barbizon in Paris, France and then on to Moorsele in Belgium.
Moorsele saw huge entries with over 95 in each pony class and 98 in the horse classes so the competition was tough.
Said Laura: “We first visited Barbizon in Paris, where they all jumped well. Cree was placed in four out of the six days competing, including a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 1.40m Grand Prix.
“From Barbizon we travelled to Moorsele in Belgium. Speedy jumped great in the Grand Prix just having a foot in the water which was good after only four ponies went clear from the 50 starters.
“As Wizard is only eight-years-old he gained valuable experience from competing abroad and over the unusual courses. We saw a huge improvement in his confidence and he progressed every day.”
In the meantime Laura is now busy catching up on GCSE Papers ready for her exams in a few weeks time.
