KEELEY DURHAM IS VOTED AUGUST OWNER OF THE MONTHBritish ShowJumping News Wednesday 09 September 2009
Keeley Durham from Retford, Nottinghamshire has been voted BSJA Owner of the Month for August. The award, aimed at giving recognition to the owners of some of Britain’s top show jumping horses, runs alongside the already established Show Jumper of the Month Award.
Keeley is the proud owner of the seven-year-old bay stallion, Argento who partnered John Whitaker to victory in the Seven-Year-Old Championship at the British Young Horse Championships, held at Addington Manor EC. Argento by Arko III, was bred by Keeley and is a member of the World Class Show Jumping Equine Pathway, a programme aimed at identifying horses that have the potential to develop into medal winning horses. The Pathway is funded by UK Sport through the BEF World Class Programme.
Derek Ricketts, British Team Manager commented:
“The Owner of the Month Award will hopefully bring our owners to the forefront of our sport and give them some recognition for the investment that they make not only into their riders, but also to the British Team and our sport as a whole. We have a number of initiatives on the drawing board at the moment that hopefully will greatly benefit our existing owners and will also incentivise and help to identify and introduce new owners to our sport”.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce that the August Owner of the Month Award goes to Keeley Durham. Keeley’s superb young stallion Argento was victorious in the Seven-Year-Old Championship at the 2009 British Young Horse Championships. This is a fantastic achievement and Argento is certainly an exciting prospect for the future. My congratulations go to Keeley and her team on their recent success”.
