Ride-Away held a weekend of Jubilee celebrations at their York store and, in addition to providing their customers with free entry into a grand prize draw and numerous special offers, over £300 was raised for the charity Nuzzlets.
Nuzzlets is an animal charity that not only provides a home for unwanted animals, but takes these animals to visit children with disabilities, special needs and life limiting illnesses, providing therapy and education.
The charity and its animals frequently visit a local children’s hospice, and also provides a place where local children and their families can come and visit and learn about animal welfare.
During the Jubilee celebrations, the team from Nuzzlets, along with the giant rabbit, a newly hatched chicken, some crested ducklings and a guinea pig, went to Ride-Away’s store and welcomed all customers who visited on Tuesday.
During the event, the charity ran a tombola, which raised over £300, and this was its best single fundraising event ever.
“We were thrilled with how well Nuzzlets did during our Jubilee celebrations,” says Angela Clark from Ride-Away.
“The charity provides a valuable service to children and their families, and this is something that we are very happy to support. We loved having the team and their animals in our store, with the giant rabbit proving a particular highlight for all our young visitors as he happily hopped around the foyer!
“The animals at the charity visit the children’s hospice as well as schools, and it’s amazing how the children who don’t react to humans respond to the animals. It might just be a smile or a slight movement, but it can be something that they’ve never done before.”
