Horses4Homes Goes Live

Horses4Homes - www.horses4homes.net - has completed its consultation and refinement phase and has launched the first ever internet based equine re-homing facility.

Rebecca Evans responsible for managing the development of the site, who has over 10 years’ experience working in the equine charity sector, is very aware of the risks associated with re-homing unwanted horses, ponies and donkeys;  “Developing a site which matches unwanted horses to suitable new carers is needed now more than ever.  The site incorporates sensible advice, insists on honesty and transparency and concludes each re-home with a bespoke agreement to highlight responsibility and duty of care.  I am confident this website which has incredibly sophisticated, user friendly software, will make a real impact on securing the future welfare of unwanted horses.”
Carl Hester, Patron of the not for profit organisation, has given his full backing to the scheme as have other key figures from the welfare sector.
Brigadier Paul Jepson MRCVS, Chair of the Equine Health and Welfare Strategy, BEVA Junior Vice President, and recipient of the Blue Cross Welfare Award said: "There is a big problem with unwanted horses whose welfare goes into a downward spiral. Horses4Homes introduces a system of matching unwanted horses to new owners that focuses on safeguarding the welfare of the horse and satisfying the expectations of both the old and new owners. It is an excellent example of responsible use of the internet."
