Horse riding centres in China and Singapore have become the latest overseas establishments to join the British Horse Society (BHS) Approval scheme.
The scheme, which includes more than 1,000 riding centres and livery yards in the United Kingdom, is growing in popularity overseas.
Equuleus International Riding Club from the Chayang District of Beijing has joined the growing number of international centres wishing to join the BHS Approval scheme.
BHS approved centres have horse and pony welfare as a priority along with client safety and satisfaction and undergo regular inspections to ensure these high standards are being upheld.
The application from the Equuleus International Riding Club is the first time in the history of The British Horse Society that a riding centre in China has applied and gained approval.
Michelle Wong from Equuleus said: “The inspection was very inspiring. The inspector helped us a lot with almost all aspects of stable management, customer service and helped us to pick out our shortcomings.
“China is very special. The sport and the market are just getting started and we wanted to do it with a proper system which is well disciplined. We got to know the BHS system eight years ago. The BHS is well recognised and worldwide known.”
The scheme also continues to grow in Singapore, where Gallop Stable Singapore PTE Ltd joins the Singapore Polo Club as BHS approved centres.
Mrs Shanker from the centre said: “Gallop Stable has always worked towards becoming one of the best recognised public riding centres in Singapore and the Asia region. With that in mind, the BHS was chosen as their professional body based on their prestigious quality and worldwide recognition.”
She continued: “The BHS Inspector was diligent and a sure professional in carrying out his duties to see us through BHS certification. With the BHS accreditation now in place, Gallop Stable is in line to achieve its goals.”
