Horse disease warning in GuernseyMonday 28 February 2011
Guernsey horse owners have been told to take necessary precautions after suspected cases of horses strangles on the island.
In fact, this contagious horse disease has been the cause of the British Show Jumping Association’s winter competition being cancelled this past weekend after a possible case of horses strangles was diagnosed.
Owners on the island have been advised to keep their equines as close to their homes as possible until vets have ascertained exactly what the situation is.
Horses strangles is a respiratory infection that affects horses, ponies and donkeys. comments: related news: Horse Welfare News 15.12.2010 British Horse Society warns of yew tree poisoning as UK awaits return of snow Horse Welfare News 12.01.2011 Dumped horse found starving with broken neck Horse Welfare News 25.02.2010 Information on laminitis popular news: General Equestrian News 24.05.2012 Horse destroyed after collision with Bentley Horse Welfare News 24.05.2012 Farrier suspended for three months after causing unnecessary suffering Celebrity/Rider News 25.05.2012 Zara Phillips carries Olympic torch on a nervous Toytown in Cheltenham | ![]() ![]() Ideal Low Calorie complete feed!
