A 20-year-old former showjumper named Happy has had tail extensions after he lost his tail in his fight against cancer, the Daily Mail reports.
Thoroughbred horse Happy had his tail docked when vets found a tumour and had to operate.
Happy found a new home at Hope Pastures sanctuary but struggled with flies buzzing round him without a tail to swat them away.
Ruth Varty, who had been diagnosed with cancer herself and wanted to take up riding while she could, came together with her friend Anita Elcome and arranged for a horse-hair extension to be braided onto what little remained of Happy’s tail.
Happy now lives in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, where he is enjoying his retirement from showjumping (and his new tail!) with Ruth and Anita.
