British equestrian riders announced for London 2012 Paralympics
The British Paralympics Association (BPA) has announced the five British athletes set to form the ParalympicsGB equestrian squad at the London 2012 Paralympics.

The five riders announced for the ParalympicsGB equestrian squad are as follows:

Lee Pearson (Grade 1b), the nine-time Paralympian, riding Gentleman

Deborah Criddle (Grade III), who has appeared at four previous Paralympics alongside Lee Pearson, riding LJT Akilles

Sophie Christiansen (Grade 1a), for whom London 2012 will be her third Paralympic Games, riding Janeiro 6

Sophie Wells (Grade IV), riding Pinocchio

Natasha Baker (Grade II), riding Cabral

For Sophie Wells and Natasha Baker, London 2012 will be their first Paralympic Games. However, Lee Pearson, Deborah Criddle and Sophie Christiansen have represented Great Britain at 10 Paralympic Games and have won a total of 14 medals.

The British Paralympic team has a history of putting in an outstanding performance at the Paralympic Games, with British riders topping the medal table in Beijing and winning team gold for four consecutive Games. This means the ParalympicGB equestrian team has won team gold at every Paralympic Games since the sport was introduced at Atlanta 1996.

Anne Dunham, riding Teddy, has been announced as first reserve. The team, which will consist of four riders from those named above, will be announced at a later date.
