Bateson Trailers has replaced the floors in 50 of its Ascot trailers after an incident when a horse fell through the floor of a two-week-old box.
The trailers are top of the range models and the company had to recall them last month after a horse narrowly escaped injury during the incident which took place on the motorway on 11 March.
The owner of the horse, Sarah Jacklin, spoke to the Horse and Hound about the incident in which she said it was a ‘miracle’ that her horse, called Foggy, was not hurt.
The 16.2hh Foggy was saved by the thick rubber matting that wrapped itself around his leg preventing major injury and in the end the horse was left with only superficial wounds.
After the incident the company that made the trailer recalled all of the models that had been sold and replaced the floors.
