Alltech Paint the Horse Competition

Alltech Paint the Horse Competition

Eleven year old Philippa Monk from Surrey has been announced overall winner in Alltech’s Paint the Horse Competition. A pupil at GuildfordHighJuniorSchool, she was awarded top prize from more than 300 entries and will now see a full-sized model painted with her design displayed at the Olympia London International Horse Show in December.

Organised by Alltech, the leading animal health and nutrition specialists, in association with StamfordEndowedSchools and the British Equestrian Federation, the competition invited school pupils aged 6 to 18 to express their creativity by submitting unique designs, as well as explaining the thoughts behind them. Philippa’s horse featured an imaginative Union Flag pattern. She explained: “I wanted to make a bold design with a bit of flair and to represent what a great country international riders are coming to ride in.”

Each of the category winners received hospitality tickets for Olympia, a framed print of their design signed by a Team GBR member of their choice and the opportunity to help paint their design on a scaled model horse at the Alltech FEI European Jumping and Dressage Championships at Windsor. The horses were then showcased at The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.

The Paint the Horse Competition aims to raise awareness of Team GBR’s fundraising efforts to send competitors to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, which takes place in Kentucky in 2010.  Since para-equestrian dressage will be included for the first time in the Games, Alltech also has a special interest in supporting the Riding for the Disabled  Association through the competition.
