2009 JumpCross League Champions Crowned

A rather damp morning greeted competitors for the final JumpCross competition of the year at Grange Farm, Wittering near Peterborough.
They were also met by a new course, which incorporated at least four water crossings and two joker opportunities at the end of the course.
First out, Lauren Dolby and the ever-consistent Red stormed around the course reducing their penalty score by 80 penalties by clearing both jokers to post an unbeatable score. Abigail Ewen and Cohiba came closest but one rail down cost them and they had to settle for second position. First time competitors at Grange Farm, Holly Hetherington and Bonnie Balloo claimed third place.
Lauren, in winning the section, also went on to win the Intro League Championship for 2009.
The Junior Group 3 section saw the last rider to go, Abigail Ewen post a clear round and by taking off 80 penalties for the joker options, claim first place ahead of Charlotte Taylor in second and Cassie Rigby in third.
Cassie Rigby claimed the top slot in the League by just point ahead of Charlotte Taylor.
Sally Wagstaff and Gulliver demonstrated why they are the League Champions for Group 3 Senior by jumping yet another immaculate round and clearing both jokers to win the section, but it was close with one rail costing, JumpCross first timers, Faye Jackson and Star the top slot. They had to settle for second place ahead of Alexandra Elliott and Onyx in third. The small, yet select, Group 2 Senior section saw Caroline Witham-Grange and Abija secure first place by 7.27 penalties ahead of Geoff Bridges riding April. Faye Jackson claimed third place. Sally Wagstaff and Gulliver in taking fourth place did enough to secure the League championship for this section and indeed the special prize donated by Tip Top Saddlery for the Overall Senior for 2009. Rachel Dyke claimed the best overall Junior prize for 2009 by securing points in both the Intro and Group 3 Junior sections.
