The Easy Way to Clean a Horse's Bit Without Soap or Detergent

The Easy Way to Clean a Horse's Bit Without Soap or Detergent

Bookmark and Share

When cleaning a horse bit, if you use soap or a detergent, it will most likely leave a horrible taste on the bit which the horse will not like. This is not comfortable for the horse and he will not enjoy the experience. This guide will show you the process of keeping a horses bit clean without having to worry about leaving a bad tasting residue or having to rinse everything off. This process requires a Flash Magic Eraser.

Cleaning a Horse Bit

1.    The first step is to remove the bit from the bridle. This time can be used effectively to clean off all of the gunk that can accumulate on the bridle near the bit.

2.    Make sure the Magic Eraser is wet and dampen the horse bit. Use the Eraser to scrub until you end up with a clean bit. The eraser is good for this job as it can get into all the fiddly nooks and crannies that can be found on a horse bit. Keep cleaning the horse bit to bring up a shine.

3.    This method is good to use when cleaning a horse bit at a show when time may be at a premium. You should notice that dried grass and food etc. comes off quite easily without leaving any residue. If you want peace of mind, you can run the bit through a dishwasher to sterilise it.

4.    Attach the now clean bit back onto the bridle of the horse.

Tips & Advice

•    When keeping a horse’s bit clean, it is worth using the Magic Eraser or a store brand equivalent. Regular sponges or scrubbers do not result in such a clean bit.
