How to take a photo to help sell your horse

How to take a photo to help sell your horse
As the saying says "a picture tells a thousand words" and this is definitely the case when you are looking to sell your horse.

By using a photograph with your ad on
Horsemart
you'll be able to show potential buyers straight away what the horse looks like.

The ideal horse photo composition
Here are our top tips for taking a photograph that's going to really show off the horse at its best:
  • Use a plain background - if the background is too distracting the horse won't stand out as much.
  • Use a digital camera - photos can be scanned and used, but a digital photo will be clearer and sharper.
  • Position the horse centrally - put the horse in the middle of the viewfinder so you don't cut off its ears, tail of even whole head!
  • Lighting - if possible take the photos on a bright or sunny day. If it's too dark or cloudy the picture won't look as good.
  • Angles - if you're only using one photo then take the photo side-on. If you can use more than one then take another from the other side, plus a close-up of the head. The more photos you use, the better you can show off your horse.
  • Technique - Use your horse's technique to best advantage. If it's a dressage horse then show its paces, if it's a show jumper then get someone to take a photo of you jumping it.
  • Naked - Make sure the horse doesn't have any tack or boots on.
