How to take a photo to help sell your horse

As the saying says "a picture tells a thousand words" and this is definitely the case when you are looking to sell your horse.

By using a photograph with your ad on Horsemart you'll be able to show potential buyers straight away what the horse looks like.

Here are our top tips for taking a photograph that's going to really show off the horse at its best:

Use a plain background - if the background is too distracting the horse won't stand out as much.
Use a digital camera - photos can be scanned and used, but a digital photo will be clearer and sharper.
Position the horse centrally - put the horse in the middle of the viewfinder so you don't cut off its ears, tail of even whole head!
Lighting - if possible take the photos on a bright or sunny day. If it's too dark or cloudy the picture won't look as good.
Angles - if you're only using one photo then take the photo side-on. If you can use more than one then take another from the other side, plus a close-up of the head. The more photos you use, the better you can show off your horse.
Technique - Use your horse's technique to best advantage. If it's a dressage horse then show its paces, if it's a show jumper then get someone to take a photo of you jumping it.
Naked - Make sure the horse doesn't have any tack or boots on.
