Horses for Loan - Advantages and Disadvantages

Horse Loan Guide
Horses for Loan - Advantages and Disadvantages
Horses for sale can work out to be rather expensive, especially when you consider the costs after the initial purchase. Horses for loan are a great choice for equestrian lovers who may not have the time or money to buy a horse outright. While a horse loan is an attractive route for many, it is important to know as much about the agreement as possible in order to make the process run smoothly.

Horses for loan are ideal for people who cannot own a horse for whatever reason, but still want to build a relationship with a horse. It is important to be prepared for the legal and financial aspects of a contract in a horse loan situation. The regular payments must be kept up with, as well as any other contractual stipulations.

It is not uncommon to find that the owner of the horse keeps a close eye on how you treat it, at least at the beginning of your relationship. Unlike with horses for sale, you have a responsibility to the horse and its owner. You will be asked many questions regarding your horse knowledge and experience, before being accepted as a carer.

It is best to strike a fixed-term agreement when looking for horses for loan. The initial length should be agreed by both parties. You should also sort out a way to get out of the contract. Many people will find that there is a notice period to exit a horse loan contract, perhaps one month.

Horse loan contracts normally involve an agreement as to the particular uses of the horse. For example, some owners may prefer you not to train the horse to do certain things.

The other thing to consider is that the owner may want to visit the horse occasionally. This should of course be allowed, however make sure that there are terms set out for the visitation rights during the horse loan.
