Hilton: Irish Sport Horse. 16.2hh Fully Registered Irish Draught 9 years Dapple Grey Gelding.
As a 5/6 year old Hilton has predominantly hunted. Since coming to us, he has been schooled, jumped and become more of a general riding horse, where now we think he is at his best.
Hilton has never hunted or seen the hounds with us so we can't comment on how he was, but he has done a lot of Hunting in his early education time. He is a superb quality stamp of a horse, we have owned Hilton many months now and we are glad we've been able to do this and now he is ready to find his new home with the next person to bring him on further as he does need more work to be the 'finished article'.
Because Hilton is a big horse he needs an experienced rider, he needs riding and holding together and likes to feel a contact. When we've had him on the website before all we've attracted for him is novices and beginners which is why we haven't pushed his sale wanting to do more with him, he does need a good rider who is competent and used to riding a big powerful horse, he is not for a novice rider or an inexperienced one and I'm sorry but we won't be allowing nervous /novice riders to try him.
We would value Hilton at £6,000 when he is fully produced but we are offering him much cheaper because the home is so very important to us at this stage, Hilton needs an experienced rider to bring him on further; we feel very much he is still a bit of a project horse and needs more time than we can give him. The girls who ride him here, love him; but they can ride, are well balanced and trust him, all we seem to get is beginner or novice riders and this is not what this horse needs - hence the price he is offered at.
When we say Hilton needs more work - you will be able to see what we mean from the Video below of him schooling, we feel he is your typical 'irish horse' and needs a gentle owners, who is kind and patient as he is a real softy and he is such a kind person.
Hilton is snaffle mouthed at all phases with us. Good to shoe, box, catch, clip etc and he is a lovely person day to day to deal with, he gets on with mares and geldings and is used to be turned out in a mixed herd, he is currently stabled in and he is fine with limited turnout.
Obviously the more we do with him and the longer we have him, his advert will alter, he just needs a little more work at the moment - lots of videos to follow of Hilton too.
HILTONS SIRE; Rhythm and Blues is a traditional Irish Draught with quality, powerful yet light, free-flowing movement and an easy natural jump. He offers plenty of bone and substance. He has a lovely disposition and willingness to work.
