Postby Starlights Delight on Thu Apr 24, 2008 6:15 pm

i own a bay tobian coloured mare she is mostly brown with blacks and white patches, 14.1 who i am hoping to show this season aswell as do dressage and jumping, but i dont know what to wear me or her, im 17 so would be adults classes and she looks best in brown but if i wear black and cream agianst her brown and white surely she'll look messy? she is hogged (sweetitch) but with her forelock left on but would i have to take her feathers off? any help thanks xxxxxxx

If it was my horse and the mane was already hogged I would take off the feathers and forelock too. I would wear a tweed jacket (brown is fine), beige jods, long boots, velvet riding hat, white or cream shirt and a dark coloured tie. I would also pull the horses tail.

This horse might be plaited (it's hard to tell) but it's an excellent example of good turn out.

If you are doing inhand you are best of wearing trousers, either dark if your pony has white legs or light if your pony has dark legs. and tweed in your pony is of the native cobby type if it is fine then you can wear black or blue jacket.

The judges in my experience like the ponies to have as little hair as possible.

If you are doing ridden then normal showing kit.

Hope this helps
