well when she went to look at this horse to buy it

it was perfect allrounder 10 or so days later she got on it it went bonkers she asked to to go down to the horse with her tomorrow and see if i can see any problems not that im and exspert lol but ill see  ...i think the horse was druged when she bought it...

if the mare has no bak problems then she is going to breed from it then sell the horse cheep

she hopes if she brings on the foal correctly it may not be such a night mare lol

Breeding is VERY expensive and it's only my opinion but if you breed from a crank, you might just breed another crank.

I would rather breed from an unsound mare with a good history but thats only my opinion

I assume she didn't have the horse vetted and bloods taken?

 if you are selling this mare cheep were on earth will it end up will you give the buyer all info as it could hurt it self or others have you tried starting it back at the beginning right from backing if it has scared it self this is the result it just panics. if you give it time and patience and totally retrain it give it some confidence and a reason not to panic it could totally change its not fare to just pass it about for pittance unless you no the person can do all this worth a try.

It sounds to me ( imho) that your friend doesnt have enough knowledge to even think about breeding at the moment. Buying a horse and then finding that it rears is not a reason to start breeding from it to make a fast quid. As others have said there could be a host of reasons why the mare is rearing, if she didnt bother to get a vetting done and so hasnt got blood tests to fall back on then its her own fault if she thinks it may have been drugged, she has no comeback at all. If the mare has back pain then putting her in foal is not a great idea anyway, it could make things far worse.  I would advise you to tell your friend to get her horse looked at by someone knowledgable and preferably either a vet or an equine back specialist and go from there.

It might not be that easy to find a good stallion to breed from anyway as most studs are quite picky about the mares that they accept as the breeding lines are very important.

where did she get the horse from?? has she spoken to the old owner?? i would not breed from that mare untill you have a vet check on it sounds like its in pain or is a nutter!! remember foals will take after the parents no matter how well they are brought up!!!

Personally I would not breed from a "naughty" horse. It does however depend on why it is naughty. Could be a whole manner of things, her back is just one of them and in all possibility the mare was drugged when you brought it, might not of been but I would say buted or acp'd up to her eyeballs!

Not all horses want to be ridden and not all make good foals and what we all need to remember is that

a, they are not there just for us to make something out of, by this I mean the whole attitude of well I cant ride it so I may as well breed from it

b, we put our horses into a totally unnatural enviroment, in and out of fields, into stables, hard feed with supplements and goodness knows what in

so therefore some of them fight back and say no, I dont wanna do this and I am not and I do not blame them.

I am not saying that you and your friend are stupid or that you are not knowledgable (sp) and I am sure that was not the impression anyone else wanted to give you, just that this needs lots and lots of thought and very careful planning and is not something that should be gone into lightly. )
