Getting a loan horse for competing

Postby pickle_jess on Mon Apr 14, 2008 8:07 pm

Is it realistic to be able to find a loan horse that I could take competing. Dad has well and truly decided I am not allowed to take my own horse competing. So looks like I will have to think of a new way. I have done very little competing but am up for a challenge, looking for a 15.2hh + and would be willing to make a contribution

So will I be able to find anything suitable or am I being totally unrelialistic
Jayvee (14/04/2008)
Why can't or won't he let you take yours??!
he says he is too precious and is using his problem with anemia as the biggest excuse, despite the vets never saying that he couldn't compete just that I basically shouldn't take him XC saturday, SJ sunday, another show monday etc basically just don't go OTT!

He says how precious he is then how we have to keep his exercise not too strenous then gets all 16 stone of him on and has a 1/2 hour private lesson followed by an hour group lesson!

Sorry just very fustrated he has made himself clear, and he is not the kind of person who will change his mind which is a shame thinking pickle comes from an XC/SJ background!
Jayvee (14/04/2008)
That is really not fair!!

Have you ever used Red Cell or ProPell Plus? Both areexcellent for anemia. Murf is slightly anemic and from time to time he feels it. So we give him a pick me up of propell plus.:) does give then vitality again. Good stuff.
yep he is on Naf blood liquid regularly and then he has equisup whenever needed as reccommended by our vet! I understand I have to be careful but all I want to do is go and do a couple of hours XC schooling with a friend from the yard (and her horse who pickle knows well)
Jayvee (14/04/2008)
We just carry on as norm with Murf. He hunts and hacks as good as the rest. We just have to monitor his healththat bit more:)

If only your dad would let you try!
yep thats basically what is supposed to happen with pickle, carry on just keep an eye out. Such a shame because pickle has so much potential very fustrating. Am going to look around for something to loan at least for the summer, I am 18 now with my own transport so at least I have that as an advantage!! just need to find something suitable now, I am just happy at least I have always been the kind of person that saves, and works!

Sems a shame you cant take your own, but im sure you would find something to loan & compete. There are regularly adverts for a part loan, with the added option of competing the said horse so im sure if you keep an eye out, maybe place a few 'wanted' adverts you should find something, good luck x
