Thick mane for a show cob!!

Postby Dobbies owner on Sun Mar 02, 2008 3:57 pm

Ok i've decided to show sis's cob mare this year at some local shows! Nothing serious and just for fun.  She is a bit of a looker and can be a stunning mover with the right jockey on board. Only trouble is her mane and i'm needing some direction here please peeps!

Before we got her she had been hogged,we've let it grow and now it's really thick and lies on both sides. We've tried training it over but give it a few days and it's right back to where we started! If it's pulled neat, short and tidy could we get away with showing her with it on both sides?? We don't really want to hog her again and it's so thick that plaits would look like footballs so what are our options? Anyone got any suggestions? x

hi is it the coloured cob you are on about?

if so if you are going to show her as a show cob it needs to be hogged feathers off and tail cut just below the hocks

if you are going to show her in traditional classes you need long unplaited main feathers and long tail

as the main gets longer it will be easyer to keep to one side

imagine this cob without the main feather and short tail then you have a show cob

HORSES COME FIRST HUSBAND LAST
