Stallion choice

Postby alaska on Thu Oct 16, 2008 9:54 am

I no this is going to be really difficult but I am looking to cover my mare in April 09 using AI so can be chilled or frozen ******. I have been looking at loads of stallions but nothing quite fits the bill so can anyone recommend one.

I am looking for something black/white, with the coloured gene as I ony want coloured, no bigger than 16.1/2h that is a nice alrounder, I dont want something with to much bone and must have a nice temperment. TB x would be nice and obviously the stud must do AI.

Any recommendations, I am based in Essex and open to any information or recommendations.

best i can say without advertising other sites is put stallions at stud in your search engine and it will come up with a few sites that have lots of coloured sport horse types on .

I was going to say lockstock huntsman but I cant find a website for him. Not sure if he's homozogenus (or however you spell it) but I know a few of my friends have put thier mares to him this yr and they did alot of research on stallions.

What colour is your mare.... and how big is she?!

I know a stallion that fits the bill - but he only throws coloureds to a grey mare or one who has a grey father... His temprement is excellent - I handle him daily?!

Give her a ring - she is very freindly and impartial?!

He's Homozygous so you'll get the colour but look at the stud fee :w00t: £600 + vat + £50 collection fee, you'll be at least a grand down by the time you've involved your vet :w00t:

There is a stallion on my yard out of this stallion - I could try and get the info for you?!

Hes homozygoe..... blah lol - cant pronounce it let alone spell it!!!

Think he is cheaper than the 'origional' - he got premium status at futurity recently- he is nice!!!

Bay and grey.

I just had a look at the black and white Tobino stallion and was really impressed, he is really nice and looks so nice to ride, its something I would be really interested in using, although i think from the stud card you can only get froozen ****** from abroad. He is something Ill def look into and will do this tommorrow when I can use my work email address as it is easier to get hold of me there.

While I am looking is there any more suggestions?
