Jord u can jump BSJA if you are under 16. You can do children on horses classes as long as you are an a associate member.

i don't really get your question? I have BSJA ponies with a horse stride and jumped horses with tiny strides. I always think its best to get the horse first and learn the feel of the horse before you get bogged down with strides. Some related distances look a perfect 5 strides away some horses will jump it no problem. Some i would have to gallop down the line to get the perfect 5 and some i would put on 6. Striding really just depends on the horse itself. Or are you asking what the striding would be for a bounce jump for your new 148?

Do you jump bounces in pure SJ (i.e BSJA)?

Generally would be 3 of our human strides

you won't be doing bounce fences not at BSJA. Also a bounce is a bounce horse or pony it will only put down then jump again it won't put in a stride.Bounces are for at home practising gymnastic ability and sharpening the horses reflexes. What classes are you planning to jump in surely only Open BN and Disc as its your 1st BSJA show.

They were exactly my thoughts FFP. I was wondering why asking about bounce strides because i was sure you wouldnt be jumping them at a show. Like you said gymnastic jumping at home.

There normally found on the xc field and even then is normally the higher classes as can cas quite a few accidents (turn overs etc)

1 horse stride = 8 human strides

2 horse strides = 12 strides and so on adding 4 human strides per horse stride

I guess will be shorter distances if specifically set for ponys alone but maybe the same

And I am getting Misty on sat :D I think what Jordan is panicking about is more for practising at home. Now that he is getting this fancy pony ) he wants to make sure the strides are right in the jumps. I have never seen a bounce at BSJA. Also Jord - the first time you walk a course - link up with someone who looks friendly and see what they are doing. You will soon get the hang of it - especially after a lesson or two with that instructor we spoke of. See u sat hunny :D

i thought it was
4 human strides = 1 horse/pony stride roughly
then allow 2 strides for take off, and 2 strides for landing?
oooh yeh its 8 strides, plus about 4 for each stride.

It is ,,

1 strided double = 8 human strides
2 strided double = 12 human strides

4 of the strides are 2 for take off and two for landing the other 4 are the 1 horse stride.
So if you wanted a related distance of 5 strides then you times 5 by 4 = 20 then plus 4 for take off and landing so it would be 24 human strides.

Also you wont get a bounce in bsja or most unaff sj its only really in xc.

Another thing if your 16 then you can no longer compete ponies in bsja you have to compete horses or change your pony to a horse and compete it in seniors.
