Yes agree with all JV has told you, you want something safe and reliable for a childs first pony and one that is quiet enough for her to be able to handle on her own.

:crazy:Please could anyone help me.We are looking for a  pony for our 10yr old daughter. So far we have looked at livery yards and have found the perfect yard with great help on hand. Our pony will be kept on full livery until we fully understand all there is to know about taking care of the pony,we have some one of great experience to view the pony when we find it and we fully intend on a vetting. We have found insurance and have looked into which vet to use.Our problem is not knowing what we are looking for. What we do know is we want a pony 13.2hh (ish) , a gelding, and some thing easy to handle, calm,no vices,etc.etc.But what i do not understand is the meaning of 1st pony & 2nd pony which do we want ? we do not want anything for competitons or shows we just want a pony that will hack out alone and in company, a pony that our daughter can have extra lessons on at the livery yard, some thing that will pop a few poles, just a pony to have fun with, learn from, groom and fuss over.Having said all this our daughter is a very good rider and enjoys learning. So if anyone can explain what all of this means we want, please let me know. Thanks for reading this.
