Babe is a 16.2hh 18-year-old Thoroughbred ex-racer.
He is looking for a loan home as I have recently got a new horse and we cant keep both of them. Babe tore his suspensory ligament in February 2015. At the time he had 6 months off and slowly came back into work. His injury means that he can no longer jump (this is how he got the injury) however it does not effect him at all now other than the fact that he can't jump.
I currently just hack Babe due to no longer having a school to use. he is 100% in traffic and in fields. I ride at Ham Hill in Stoke-Sub-Hamdon and he loves it. Sheep and cows haven't been a problem. He used to be near an airfield so aircraft isn't a problem either.
I used to compete in dressage with babe and recently scored 60%. He has shown great potential and could compete at novice level with the right rider. He has a lovely medium trot and his counter canter is coming along very well.
Babe has also taken part in pony club - obviously no jumping, but he enjoys going to flatwork rallies and he competed at the area 15 dressage in July.
I have done a small amount of showing with Babe and he again has showed potential particularly in veteran classes.
He is registered with ROR and I think he would do well in ROR classes.
I have owned Babe for 2 years and got him as a low level eventer. Due to not being able to jump I focused on dressage with him. I am now getting back into jumping which is why I am putting him up for loan. Must be local to Langport/Martock areas as I want to be able to see him regularly.
Babe is perfect to catch, shoe, and is perfect for the vet , dentist etc. He can be stubborn to load but he always goes in. We haven't had any problems loading for a while so he may be over this phase now. He will travel alone or in company, and in a lorry or trailer. He is good at shows and not much phases him.
