History [edit]

The Arab or Arabian horse originates from the Arabian Peninsula, which includes Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Arabian Horse is a treasured breed both in their home countires and all over the world. Their compassion for humans developed back in the desert where they would share the family tent, protected by their Bedouin Masters.

Through selective breeding the Bedouins developed a horse which was tough and yet beautiful. A war horse. The Arabian Horse is quick to learn and very clever, they will do anything you ask of them.

Arabian bloodlines have influenced many different breeds of horse, adding refinement, speed and nobility.

General Appearance [edit]

The Arab horse has a small, almost dished shaped head, large eyes set well apart, and a tiny muzzle. Their neck is arched with a clean throatlatch, sloping shoulder, strong level back, strong hindquarters, and strong legs. The Arabian horses type will differ depending on the breeding, and as a long swan like neck may be desirable in todays market, this may not be present on all types of Arabian Horse.

The Arabian Horse comes in Chestnut, Bay, Black and Grey. Amoungts these colourings, the Sabino gene is also a common sight.

A 100% purebred Arabian will never be Skewbald, Piebald, Palamino or any other colour except a solid.

Hello.. There is talk of them having one less vertibrae, equalling one less rib. Some say they have 2 vertibrae fused together.
