One in a million pony! Perfect pony for a nervous rider!
Katie is an extremely special little pony and it is with a massively heavy heart that I am putting her up for sale. Katie is a 6 year old, 14 hand piebald cob who has given me so much joy in everything that I have done with her. I have owned her since she was 4 years old and we estimate that she had only been broken for approximately 6 weeks when I bought her, so most of her ridden history is with me.
I have brought her on very slowly in the arena but we are now working on prelim dressage tests. She works in a nice shape and has 3 lovely paces, and as she is such a pretty, attention-grabbing horse, she would be perfect for showing or dressage. I would like her to do more competitions with her new owner as she is certainly capable and I feel she would go incredibly far. She is forward but not silly or lazy and has never bucked/reared/bolted etc.
She hacks alone or in company. As I have done a lot of jumping and riding with other horses in the field/arena, another horse or a group of horses could canter past her and she would be completely unfased. She may actually turn her hoof to hunting (although I have never hunted with her). She has hacked on roads, in open fields and along our 3 mile farm ride and is unfased by tractors, cars, lorries, dogs, other horses etc. She has looked after some of the more nervous hackers on our yard, some double her age! I have taken her out to other yards and around Delemere Forest and she behaved absolutely perfectly. When we travel with her, it’s as though she’s not even there!
I have jumped coloured poles up to 60cm and she has free jumped up to 80cm, but has scope to go further – she will jump anything! I have jumped ditches/logs/steps in the cross country field and she loves it. We are now working on jumping doubles and upping the height of the poles. I have brought on her jumping very slowly and taken it at her pace so she has definitely not been overjumped or frightened.
She is perfectly behaved on the ground. Easy to catch and bring in from the field. Loves a fuss, enjoys being groomed and bathed and stands very still. She has even been groomed by my 4 year old nephew and really looked after him. She doesn’t wear shoes and just has her feet trimmed every 6-8 weeks, which she stands perfectly for – the farrier loves her! I usually clip her every 6 weeks; she just needs distracting with a salt lick when we do her legs as she can very cheekily lift them up.
I genuinely can’t say enough about this horse – she is perfect and has brought on my confidence 10-fold – I will do anything with her now. If you are nervous but a capable/ambitious rider, a child looking for their second pony, a teenager/small adult looking for a calm, quiet horse to compete or somebody who just wants to go out and have fun, this is definitely the horse for you.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will be very honest as I want her to go to her forever home. I would only like her to go to somebody who is willing to keep me updated on her progress, so please only contact me if you are willing to do this as she is incredibly loved. I am only selling due to my financial situation, otherwise she’d stay with me forever.
