15hh (152.5cm AHC) Grey Irish Sport Horse mare “Windy” £4000 inc. all tack and rugs
Absolutely heartbreaking sale of my horse Windy (passported name ‘Clonahenogue Ashling’). Windy is an 8 year old (dob 16/05/08) Irish Sport Horse mare, by the Connemara stallion ‘Windy’s Boy’, who has produced a number of offspring who are very successful in the show ring (including Glencarrig Bobby). Dam is a TB type ISH. Had an annual height card done in February this year which measured her at 152.5cm.
In the 4 years I have owned Windy she has done all manner of activities, although I have not competed as much in the last year as I would’ve liked due to rider injury and work commitments. Windy really enjoys show jumping, she happily jumps courses of 90cm with scope to go higher (has jumped single fences up to 1m20 with me). She was regularly competed through the winter months by a tall 13 year old. Jumps both coloured, solid and rustic fences with ease. Windy has regularly cross country schooled, jumping ditches, in and out of water etc. I have lightly shown Windy this year competing in the show hunters receiving positive comments from the judges. We jumped our first working hunter course this year jumping a clear round in the most appalling weather conditions on grass. Windy would be a real contender in the 153 workers classes. Windy has been to all the local shows and is happy to stand on or off the box/trailer while waiting. Windy has also hunted proving to be sensible ride, not strong or silly and was good with the hounds. Windy hacks alone but is more confident in company. Windy hacks regularly on the roads and on bridles paths around my yard and doesn’t become strong or silly when on the grass. She is nervous of cyclists and motorbikes but is excellent with all other traffic. Windy regularly sees a huge variety of farm vehicles, lorries and trains (we have to cross several level crossings while out hacking). Windy will happily wait at level crossings while the biggest of freight trains pass. Windy has been used in the riding school based at my yard over the last year. She has been used for a variety of riders from those who are more novice up to the advanced riders however I wouldn’t say she is a novice ride as she can be forward to jump.
Windy is nervous to body clip, but will let me trim her legs and face with quiet clippers. I usually sedate Windy to do her winter clip (using Domosedan gel rather than the vet) as I have found she is much happier this way. Similarly, she is nervous to do her teeth. Windy is good to worm, shoe and catch. Windy would happily live out 24/7 all year round, currently turned out with just mares but has been stabled next to geldings in the past and is not mareish towards them. Windy travels impeccably in both boxes and trailers, loads with no fuss and hardly moves at all when on the move.
Windy does have a scar on her off hind hoof, but passed 5 stage vetting when I bought her and it has never caused her any issues.
Up to date with jabs, farrier and dentist.
Windy would suit a PC/RC home. Only for sale due to lack of time.
£4000 ovno to include all tack and rugs.
Open to any vet.
