| Victory for Rodney Powell at Boekelo - 18 Oct 2007 |
|
Rodney Powell and Zin Zan II will be celebrating, after a decisive win at Boekelo in the Netherlands, where they led the event from start to finish.
Powell and the promising nine-year-old dominated the competition, adding just one time-penalty to their dressage score - finishing on 41.40 - leaving German pair Frank Ostholt and Mr Medicott with little choice but to settle for second, despite an artful clear round in the show jumping.
German rider Kai Ruder finished in fourth with Selle Francais Jeans.
Other British riders also made their mark on the event, with Kristina Cook finishing third on Miners Frolic, Oliver Townend, riding Jackson D'Allez, fell from second back to fifth after knocking down two rails, while Zara Phillips was eighth with Glenbuck.
This solid performance by the British contingent meant that they also took the team gold, leaving France, Germany and Ireland trailing behind.
