Origins of the Haflinger Horse
Dating back to the Middle Ages, Haflingers are the native ponies of the Alpine farms of Austria. Villagers needed surefooted animals for their daily transportation and packing in the uneven mountain terrain. The horse was crossed with Arab horses to produce the Haflinger as we know it today.
