Squiggy came to The Horse Trust as a rescue pony in 2010. He is now ready to rehome as a potential lead rein/driving pony. We are looking for a home where he will continue his education, as Squiggy is still learning, we are looking for a home with experience in breaking ponies to ride or drive.
Squiggy is good to lunge and long rein and has recently started pulling a small cart. He has been led out on local roads and seen light traffic.
Squiggy is good to catch and turnout. He would benefit from regular daily handling. We recommend he is supervised around small children. He is good to lead and tie up and is good to groom. He is good to have his feet picked out and to trim. We are currently using positive reinforcement training when he is shod. He is currently wearing front shoes. He loads and travels well and is good to worm.
Squiggy is good for the vet but may require sedation for the dentist. He can be stabled, but is currently living out 24/7 on restricted grazing. He is best suited to turnout with geldings only. When stabled he requires a shavings bed as he will eat straw. He can have supplementary hay in the field during winter if required.
Squiggy is prone to weight gain so would benefit from a strict regime with his diet carefully managed. He doesn’t require hard feed but a vitamin and mineral supplement would be beneficial.
If you feel you can offer Squiggy a long term, loving home, please apply.
As The Horse Trust requires horses out in loan homes to be checked every 3-6 months we generally rehome within a 50 mile radius of our centre in Buckinghamshire. In special circumstances we may consider rehoming outside this radius.
