I am 47 yrs old and have been riding for 27 years. I am a competent, gentle rider, albeit a nervous one. With the right horse those nerves soon disappear, although occasionally i will tense up at scary bags, bins etc
Last year I unexpectedly lost my horse of a lifetime and have been looking for the impossible ever since
Due to my first horse turning out to be a full on, blind panic bolter who almost killed us both on a few occassions I have gone form being confident to quite a nervous rider. in fact things got so bad I gave up riding for a few years.
That was until my friend gave me Storm, a 16.1 Percheron. Storm was amazing, if I started to get nervous he ignored it and just carried on, head down and at his same, steady, unrushed pace.
During our first year together Storm was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma on his jugular. He came through his operation amazingly well and within months we were plodding round the streets and fields again, until last year, when I found him collapsed in the field, paralysed through his back legs. This time nothing could be done for my special boy
Storm was one in a million and now im looking for another one in a million to help fill the huge hole he has left and to get me back in the saddle again
Here is my wish list:
Height: 15.1h - 16.2h
Age: 6-16 yrs
Breed: The heavier the better, I'm 11 1/2 stone but I feel so much more confident on a big leg in each corner type of horse. I have a real passion for all types of heavy draft horse
Sex: I would prefer a gelding but wouldn't rule out a non mareish mare
Must be 110% in every way, have to be perfect in all traffic.
Good with other horses.
Must hack out alone as happily as they would in company. I love to ride out with my friend but work commitments do not always allow for this and half the time I would be riding alone
Must be very forgiving of nervous riders
Must be happy to be fussed and loved and spoilt rotten
What I am offering the right horse:
A forever 10* loving home awaits, with myself and my partner and a whole squad of grandchildren to fuss and spoil the special horse
They would be stabled at my home in a semi rural village where I have 3 acres, 2 nice stables and a happy friendly little pony for company
I can provide references from my equine dentist, vet and farrier
No silly prices please, an amazing home awaits but I do have a budget
