** LONG ADVERT but this is a very tough decision and I have tried to include as much detail as possible to try and avoid getting messages from people who then feel Star isn't right for them**
STAR is a 15.3hh Bay TB, 6 years old, that is now looking for a second part-loaner.
We already have 1 lovely lady who part loans star 3 days a week, and due to extreme struggles financially (due to recently having a baby) I am now looking for someone else to part loan 2 days a week. (A Tuesday & a Friday) It was never my intention to loan Star to more than one person, but after facing the heart break of perhaps having to sell her, i have decided to see if i can find another lovely person to have 2 days before i face that decision.
It would be £20 a week or £86 a month, paid standing order into a bank account. (I don't like dealing with cash, although i am loaning star for the extra income, i don't want it to be about the money for people, therefore paying by standing order means I wont have to keep asking for the payment and the loaner can just enjoy Star.)
Star is a lovely, quick learner and very willing to please mare. I have had her for 2 years now and she only "tried it on" a handful of times. Star needs someone who is quiet with their hands and who had a soft touch with horses. The calmer you are with her and treat her respectfully the more she will listen to you. Shouting at Star just scares her.
Having said that, Star is not a spooky horse, if she sees something she doesn't like, she just stops and looks at it, but the more you pretend it isnt there, the more Star wont even notice it.
She is more than capable of the basics: Walk, Trot, Canter. We are working on our trot to canter transitions, making sure we do a lot of them so that Star doesn't find them exciting anymore and she has improved massively in only a short amount of time. She has jumped under the saddle, last year, with myself before i got pregnant, and was very good, she didn't rush or get too excited. She has been jumped this year on the lunge and free schooling and is showing great scope, having said that, Star is not a natural born jumper and this will never be her main discipline. She will hack out alone or in company, she needs a confident rider to hack out (not because shes naughty, but because she really feels your nerves, so if you are thinking about things, then Star will think about them too)
She is ridden in a snaffle at all times and is never too strong. She has reared on 2 occasions with her loaner. (once when we realised her back was hurting her due to her saddle not being fitted correctly and once when she moved onto her new yard and went out hacking with a lot of horses the next day and got far too worked up) She has never reared with myself though. I just want people to be aware that this is not her normal behavior at all but she is obviously capable of it.
She loves a good fuss and lots of pampering, she is easy to do in all ways, shoe, clip, load, catch (once she knows you and is at ease with you she will actually start coming to call, which makes life easy in the winter)
I could talk about Star for hours, she is my absolute pride and joy & that's why i would love to find the perfect loaner who enjoys her as much as i do. Although i will introduce both Mel (Stars current part loaner) and whoever loans her as well, the days will never clash, hense why she needs someone on a Tuesday and Friday specifically.
She is kept on a lovely, quiet little yard in Draycott with all the facilities you would need.
Please, please get in touch if you feel that you and Star would be a good match so that we can arrange a viewing and a ride. Look forward to hearing from people. Thanks
Plenty of photos upon request: star being ridden, jumped, free schooling, hacked out etc.
